(1) Blue chip art refers to valuable works of art created by major artists, who have deeply marked the history of art, recognized by museum institutions, international galleries, and collectors. These works sell for the highest price in auction houses, starting at several hundred thousand dollars.

(2) The Artprice100® is an index developed by Artprice, whose mission is to observe and quantify the increase in value of the Art Market by focusing on its most stable part. The composition of Artprice100® was adjusted by a scientific council on 1 January in order to reflect the gradual evolution of the Art Market. The 100 most successful artists at auction over the previous five years, and who meet an essential liquidity criterion (at least ten homogeneous works sold each year), are identified to constitute a representative portfolio. The weight of each artist is proportional to the sales revenue of each artist over the period in question.
