Why diversify your clients' capital with Matis ?

01

Extraordinary works created by artists who have marked the history of art

Enrich your firm's offering by enabling your clients to invest in masterpieces of contemporary art, created by major 20th-century artists, which are usually only accessible to art market professionals or great collectors.

02

Generate performance (not guaranteed) on established artists' values

Without predicting future performance, contemporary artworks by the 100 most iconic artists have outperformed the S&P 500 on average for more than 20 years. Thanks to our methodology, which is based on historical analysis of public and private prices and information gathered through our relationships with industry professionals, our investment team knows how to evaluate the maximum price at which it is wise to purchase a work. This expertise allows us to buy low enough to resell through art galleries that are most familiar with interested collectors.

03

A liquid and dynamic market

Art and collectibles have always been an important part of private wealth. In 2022, they represented $2.174 trillion, or 5.2% of the wealth of the world's richest individuals(4). Transactions in the art market accounted for nearly $58 billion in 2024, with nearly 50% of auction sales made on 20th-century artists(2). Within 20th-century art, market value is concentrated on ‘blue chip’ works(3), valued at over $500k. These works represent more than 60% of the total value of auction sales, for only 1% of the works traded. Matis' strategy is therefore to focus on these blue chip(3) works, which account for the majority of the market value.

04

A unique placement offering access to exclusive cultural experiences

Beyond the purely financial aspect, your clients become members of a club that opens its doors to them for private tours and cultural events. Each month, your clients will find opportunities to immerse themselves in the world of art with private tours, dinners and talks on art and investment.

Matis sets up in Geneva

Art was previously one of the last asset classes that was not made easily accessible for investment. Matis has set itself the mission of bringing the best investment standards to art: the company in fact offers to co-invest in major works of the 20th century in the form of convertible bonds starting at 20,000 euros (18,820 francs). The French company has just opened its first office in Switzerland, in Geneva.

Art ushers in a new era for investment

A pioneer in co-investment in contemporary art, the Paris-based company Matis recently set up shop in Geneva. At the crossroads of finance and culture, its innovative model appeals to clients seeking to diversify their assets.

“We focus on the 100 to 150 most important artists of the post-war period.”

Matis, which is launching on the Swiss market, offers co-investments in the form of convertible bonds in major works by leading contemporary artists. These are iconic names that have had a profound impact on art history and enjoy solid, well-established ratings, as Hugo Rouast explains here.

Why invest in contemporary art?

While ancient art continues to captivate historians, museums, and knowledgeable enthusiasts, it is contemporary art that is now playing the most strategic role for investors, particularly in the high-end segment of the market.

Contemporary art reinforces its status as a safe haven

In a global context still marked by economic, geopolitical, and financial uncertainty, the high-end segment of the contemporary art market is confirming its resilience and its role as a driving force. As for Switzerland, it is reassuring. With Art Basel, which has become one of the most influential events on the international calendar, it has established itself as a key player in the art market.
