The art market represented nearly $58 billion in transactions in 2024, with nearly 50% of auction sales coming from 20th-century artists⁽²⁾. Within 20th-century art, market value is concentrated on ‘blue chip’⁽³⁾ works valued at over $500k. These works represent more than 60% of the total value of auction sales, for only 1% of the works traded.
